Well, what organization in this great country of ours has historically been the barometer of morality? The Church, mosque, temple...- it doesn't matter which one, they all have the effect of morality on the people that attend them.
They all claim some special dispensation to aid the people in choosing right from wrong. Their Holy Script, Holy Prophets, or Transcended Spirit guides all indicate the path of righteousness.
If this is so, then it begs the question- WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH OUR MORAL BAROMETER?
I happen to be a Christian and my indicator is the Word of God we call the Bible. It pronounces a curse on those that call wrong right and right wrong. BUT to some it is mere Hocus Pocus. I on the other hand believe differently.
As a moral barometer you cannot have it both ways. If you follow the news you quickly realize that Holiness is a great evader of men. Men claim that they have achieved holiness and then fall terribly. The Roman Catholic Church unfortunately is going through a very bad time, BUT so is the Muslim faith. The Jews well they are always under attack. Jimmy Swaggert, Jim and Tammy Baker... it is all so sad.
The secret is, it isn't about the other person, It is about YOU!
If you were honest, ethical, truthful, all these descriptive adjectives of holiness, then the very space you take (and believe me I include myself in this list) would be pure and in touching others would act like a purifier in their lives and so on.
So stop calling the kettle black when you are no better as a pot. Start today- great someone on the streets with sincerity, share your resources wholeheartedly, blow the whistle fairly, if you see wrongs report them or approach the person and correct them humbly.
Above all remember we are all on this planet together and we all leave the same way.
You are no greater than your fellow man/woman!
